"This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing government they can exercise their constitutional right of amending it or their revolutionary right to dismember or overthrow it."

Condoleezza Rice: Decries Power-Hungry Chief Executive

October 14th, 2007 · 1 Comment · Constitution

These statements coming from Condoleezza Rice about Russia are pretty ironic considering you could substitute Bush’s dictatorial regime for the Putin regime.

The Russian government under Vladimir Putin has amassed so much central authority that the power-grab may undermine Moscow’s commitment to democracy.

“In any country, if you don’t have countervailing institutions, the power of any one president is problematic for democratic development.”

“I think there is too much concentration of power in the Kremlin. I have told the Russians that. Everybody has doubts about the full independence of the judiciary. There are clearly questions about the independence of the electronic media and there are, I think, questions about the strength of the Duma,” said Rice, referring to the Russian parliament.

Rice’s State Department frequently has criticized what Washington regards as creeping authoritarianism among Putin and other top Russian leaders. What about the creeping authoritarianism of Bush, Cheney, DHS, FBI, and the other members of the Bush regime?

The American government under George Bush has amassed so much central authority that the power-grab may undermine America’s commitment to democracy.

“In any country, if you don’t have countervailing institutions, the power of any one president is problematic for democratic development.”

“I think there is too much concentration of power in the Oval Office. I have told the American’s that. Everybody has doubts about the full independence of the judiciary. There are clearly questions about the independence of the electronic media and there are, I think, questions about the strength of Congress”

I think Condosleezza Rice is a hypocrite.
A hypocrite is
1. A person who pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs, principles, etc., that he or she does not actually possess, esp. a person whose actions belie stated beliefs.
2. A person who feigns some desirable or publicly approved attitude, esp. one whose private life, opinions, or statements belie his or her public statements.

Got to agree with you here, take a few weeks back on her statement in the BBC on the environment, basically was this; countries should do whatever they can to curb pollution as long as their economy does not suffer to much, it is this lax ability to get any kind of foreign policy going on is hindering the progress of implementing something to help our children and grand-children out, which she could also be classified as an environmental hypocrite.
